The below architecture has been proposed by the Danish architecture firm BIG Architects and is one of the 3 designs shortlisted for the St. Petersburg Pier International Design Competition.

I kind of love how the concept has been developed with a fine-eye not only to pier activities, but also as a way to attract tourists and people and guide them along the way – and provide activities on-spot to keep them busy.

Here is a little detail about the below given design:

• Bustling activity will be channeled towards the ‘wave walk’ which undulates to dip and rise from the water,
  framing a swimming pool and small holding area for kayaks, canoes and small scale boats.

• Plaza below the arch may be used for outdoor markets and as a band shell pavilion for concerts
